What is Collaboration
Lets start collaborating! the first theme is: what is collaboration.
show us what collaboration meens to you; what it should be; what it must not be; what collaborates perfectly; what does not need collaboration, split up collaboration structures; create an ideal; what’s the worst case szenario; what are the connections between the collaborators; collaborating colours; shapes; emotions; meanings; and so on.
Draw, write, scratch, photograph, film, sing, dance, cook what comes to your mind and share it with us! Tag: what is collaboration, oink
no idea yet? Mashup! You are welcome to mashup the contributions, at any point of this project. Download the images to: re-arrange them; cut figures out; change the background; draw over; add paint; play a matching song; animate; change; mutate and Re-Upload!
write a few words and tell us what you did; what was important to you; what inspired you; who you mashed-up and your name

In my contribution, i focused on unconscious collaborations, that we all experience in everyday life. The head has a special position in this role play and leaves an impression of beeing able to stand alone. Without constant collaboration and circulation though, there would be neither thought nor movement. ..or was the egg before the chicken?

“An image I’m working on in collaboration with Dario, from flickr. First time I do that kind of project. Very excited about it.”
Flickr Video San SerbéExecution by hanging first came into my mind when I saw this image but I quickly changed to the topic of execution of individuals by fire, which has a long history as a method of punishment for criminals such as heretics, e.g. Jeanne d’Arc. The video is based on some altered fragments of Le Procès de Jeanne d’Arc (1962) by Robert Bresson and some organized sounds from an human heart beat found in Partners In Rhyme.
P.S. Collaboration implies some collective activity directed towards some common goal. If this is performed individually, common purpose could be thematic or even by free association of other member’s work, and then each individual result of the collective could be fueled, induced in part by others’ work. My (poor) collaboration is based on free association of Shirin’s work. But, is this a collaboration?

i have started to do some mashups, out of our collaboration - contributions, to start playing with the ideas that are already in.
i’ve continued Serbé’s associations of execution in some very rough collages using Benoit’s, Serbé’s and my images, plus old execution-photos found on the web.

Here is my contribution to “what is collaboration”. In my quest for answers, i entered the twisted dungeons of second-life. This massive online world with more inhabitants then many small countries is supposedly at the cutting edge of online collaboration.
I asked around about what collaboration means inside this virtual dungeon community, here´s a good quote:
I explore collaboration as a process by framing it in three phases: problem setting, direction setting, and structuring. During the problem-setting phase stakeholders negotiate their right to participate. Agreement on the problem and what actions and resources are needed to address it are established during the direction setting phase. During the structuring phase, those agreements are implemented by allocating roles, responsibilities, and resources.
Inspired and based on Zack Rathore’s photo’s. After spotting three pics of Zach in a corridor cavorting, seemed to me the imagery was a triptych waiting to happen, Zach’s framing already was very Baconesque. Painted in the spirit of collaboration for 8 oinks! Thanks Zach! Thanks Shirin!
I would like to say thanks to Feroze for creating the very fabulous and Bacon-esque interpretation of the above three photos
I am so pleased that he did such a fabulous work on this, as at the moment, I am lacking any creativity. So a collaboration by proxy

mashup2.2 8oinks soap: Play Now | Play in Popup | Downloadi’ve added some music to serbé s mashup
it would be cool to have a different song per question or even per cut.
any suggestions?
i discovered this painting on Feroze 13’s flickr-stream. it contains a painted version of a photograph by Zach Manchester.
i take the libetry of adding these collaborative works to our: what is collaboration-pot.
i had too much coffee this morning and started to do mashups. forgive me zach
i used images by feroze, benoit, zach and me and combined them with samim’s idea of 3d landscapes (random google finds). during the last 2 mashups i must have drifted away. bon appétit.

thank you for your contribution serbe!
respond to your ps: you are right; that the imagination can get ‘fueled’ by the contributions that are already in. but as i think that we all are fueled already, by our outside world, all the artists that we’ve blogged and seen, all the work that each of us already did solo and so on…
so in this first step, that is: collecting as many contibutions as possoble to the theme ‘what is collaboration’. i think it’s important to do this individually, to see all the fuel that is around. hopefully this will shape the theme a bit more and we’ll be able to see, what interests us as a collective.
the second step (i’m looking really forward to) is starting to work with the contributions and trying to bring them into one image again. /or video/painting etc.
if we still don’t have enought after that, we mashup the mashups. …could be a never ending story and the more we pull and push and fold and cut and glue from all sides, the more it gets ‘ours’.

Thanks, Shirin, for using my image. I laughed a lot when I recognised my personnage in your images. My favorite is the 2nd one, execution-1.jpg. And bravo to all. This post contains terrific stuff.
