first time i looked at it....WTF....are u kidding me? My jaw dropped. I love your controversional conceptual staged photography of a pig. I can see your dedication or passion in putting this series. This is the best i've ever seen, even compared to magazines. I think you made the right decision to use color on this series and i love the color palette. When u have time, check Luerzer's archive mag. It's an advertising mag, but you can find amazing conceptual photos over there. That's where the money is, if you like doing staged or conceptual photography. thanks for the add btw. You're talented photographer...keep blowing people's mind...

of course it get reactions. first because it's an excellent concept and very well done. second because it's done with a delicious irony: not to be understood with ignorance weight this own ignorance symbol. some people would prefer to c the pig as a steak on his/her plate, this way they don't have to face the pig's life or nature. besides, there's something else quite funny and curious: pig's meat has exactly the same composition as human's meat. so when u eat pig, it's like if you were eating another person's meat. (that's the reason why it's more difficult to digest pig's meat). so here watching a pig sitting as a human, and by the other photos eating it's own meat, it's delicious ironic and thought provoking. why can human eat pig's meat and a pig can't eat ours? doesn't we belong to the same nature? why can humans use "fashion" sunglasses and pigs are not allowed to dress and make up? i'm sure u'll find here on flickr thousands of snapshots with their pets using sunglasses... or human feet with painted nails like water melons... (puck!: and some people find it funny...)

ah...............'the pornography of pork' interesting that my comment finally provoked the kind of response the art deserves not just the sort of comment i can imagine on the pics of pets in 'fashion' sunglasses. er...........and a pig really would eat our meat if it was provided with it, they eat anything. i think you misunderstand me slightly, it is a strong piece of work that deserves a strong discussion, its a brave piece of work......it would be good if there were some braver comments, even angry ones. people dress their dogs up all daft because they can, not because the dog chooses it and indeed...........it amuses some people. if i dont find this piece funny, then thats ok isn'it? even if i enjoy my sungasses? i can't make sense of this comparison you make between a human wearing 'fashion' sunglasses (i'm assuming you are referring to my glasses) and a slaughtered pig being 'allowed' to dress up.................?

(not sure though, but i will study the case more detailed). i asked Shirin to put me on the phone with Paula and she (Paula) said to me that dressing and making up her, was the best Shirin could do to her dignity, after being slaughtered. now let me take off my fashion sunglasses before you'll slaughter me :) (hope you're vegetarian though)

interesting twist in this discussion ;) i agree with you nikkimonkrowsell, humans are definitely the inventors and symbols of ignorance. that was my main inspiration for these images. for me personally, the idea of converting an entire species into sausages and bacon is more abstract, than giving one of them name, face and personality. this little pig named paula was a cold piece of meat in the butchery, to show my respect to life and being, i chose to give her human traits as an invitation for self-reflection. (the viewer-reactions tell their own story) now Missy, blow a kiss to Gon who took such good care of you today :) XXX!!

i see your point shirin.....so much of the irony is connected to each individuals beliefs about consuming pork, about the symbolism of the pig. for me, voyeurism of the body dead, mutilated or in pain without the subjects living consent, is a kind of pornography. like when we look at images of war, i always feel that dead and mutilated people look like meat in war photos - i wouldnt have thought about it before but i guess meat on a plate is too ........ and G. Bernard, i wouldn't be seen dead looking like this pig...............(if you are interested in a book that heavily symbolises pig and pork meat, can i recommend William Golding's "Lord of the Flies') now where is my knife and fork........and where is that tasty Mr. Bernard?...............(who needs ham and cheese?)
