About Shirin K. A. Winiger

My name is Shirin Katya Aleyda Winiger, born in 1984 in Zurich, Switzerland. My mother is Iranian and my father Swiss. I work as a freelance photographer and artist and i´m the initiator and manager of 8oinks.com, a vibrant collaborative arts community.

Before starting my work as a photographer, I graduated from art school (HGKZ Zürich) with a focus on painting. I subsequently got a degree as cosmetican (Maria Schweizer, Zürich), make-up artist and hairstylist (Visamask, Berlin) and worked in theatre, film and fashion. Inspired by my work with established photographers, i soon decided to dedicate myself fulltime to photography. In 2007, I relocated from Zürich to Berlin.

In my career i’ve been drawn to the hidden more intimate side of reality. I am fascinated by the effect of subtle distortions of our perception. My attempt is to manipulate the collective memories of familiar motifs.

I realized projects for numerous clients, ranging from portrait, art and fashion photography to animation and art direction.
